FAOA was previously known as The Florida Legislative Committee, Inc. The Florida Legislative Committee had its roots in the Cat Fanciers Association, and was formed in the mid-1980’s as a political lobbying group dedicated to protecting cat owners and breeders. In 2005, due to the increased threat by Animal Rights activists, that affect not only cat fanciers and owners, but all species, a decision was made to revamp our organization to include all species, and in July 2005, the Florida Animal Owners Alliance was formed.

The Florida Animal Owners Alliance, Inc. is a not-for-profit corporation dedicated to protecting animal owners, users and enthusiasts against proposed legislation, harassment and propaganda put forth by animal rights activists.  We support reasonable well-written legislation, that serves to protect animal owners' interests, but also believe in the humane and proper care and treatment of animals. Our membership includes hunters, fishermen, trappers, gun enthusiasts, research scientists, rodeo enthusiasts, working ranches and farms, horsemen, cattlemen, pork and poultry producers, dog sportsmen, obedience trainers, dog and cat breeders, both professional and hobbyists,  as well as bird breeders, primate breeders and breeders of other animals.

FAOA has lobbyists specializing in all facets of animal ownership and enjoyment. We lobby both the legislature and congress; testify at hearings and work to protect the Constitutional rights of animal owners and enthusiasts. We are strongly opposed to the animal rights movement and invite you to join with us in protecting our rights.
